She was born on March 6, 1938, in Colston, Missouri, to Marion Elmer Light and Mary Alice Grayson Light. She married Roy Elton Vied in Jefferson City, Missouri, on January 29, 1958.
Mary was a wonderful cook who loved sharing meals and homemade desserts with her family and friends. Her door was always open, the coffee was always on, and a delicious treat was always waiting. She found great joy in playing bingo, trying her luck at the lottery and slot machines, working on jigsaw puzzles, and playing lively games of Yahtzee and the family-favorite game of Washers.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Vicky Vied Polk and Pamela Vied Gaggin (Stephen); eight grandchildren, Shannon Smith, Taylor Polk (Taylor Smith), Ryan Polk (Sarah), Christopher Gaggin, Kayla Gaggin, Alysa Vied (Krystina), Gregory Vied (Tori), and Gillian Vied; seven great-grandchildren, Rosalie Smith, Hudson Smith, Remington Smith, Jonathan Polk, Mateo Vied, Harmony Swanson, and Willow Swanson; her twin brother, Jerry Lee Light; sister-in-law, Brenda Hammon (Mike) and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Elton Vied; her parents, Marion Elmer Light and Mary Alice Grayson Light; her sons, Bradley Scott Vied and Gregory Sean Vied; her son-in-law, Jeffrey Polk; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne Light (Dorothy), Billy Light (Barbara), and David Light and Bertha Light.
Mary’s family would like to thank Woodland Village Assisted Living and Devotion Hospice for all of the loving care that they gave Mary.
